IT’S PIZZA NIGHT. LIGHT YOUR FIRES!

Pizza! One more reason to light a fire.

Now pizza night can also be braai night. Try this recipe on your braai for a delicious wood-fired pizza.

Pizza (Serves 4)

Ingredients:

For the pizza dough:

  • 3 cups flour,
  • 2 tsp yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup lukewarm water

For the topping:

Sprinkle on your choice of ingredients, but don’t overload your pizza or the cheese won’t melt.

Method:

  • Sprinkle the yeast into the water.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients.
  • Once the yeast has activated, combine the water, oil and dry ingredients and knead for 6 minutes.
  • Cover the dough with a damp tea towel and set it aside until you need it – at least fifteen minutes.
  • Divide the dough into four portions, and roll it out on a floured surface.
  • Place your grid about 10cm above hot coals. Drape the pizza dough on the grid.
  • After 1 minute, use tongs to flip the crust over and sprinkle your toppings onto it. (Be careful not to overload your pizza.)
  • Check the underside regularly to ensure it doesn’t burn.
  • In 6 – 8 minutes, your pizza will be ready to eat!

Enjoy!
